It looks like its gonna be a nice weekend, an i want to go for bass with lures, have any of you lot had bass on lures yet this year?

i realise there mainly intent on peelers at this time of year, what is peoples success rate on lures at this time of year?

i might try some float fishing off of a mini promenade as well, into six to fifteen feet of water, any advice on bait hook size-i won't be targeting particular species/ just trying to up the catch rate with 'bits'.

Haven't a clue on the Solent but from the promenade go for ragworm on 1/0 Aberdeen for small pollack and wrasse and others if around. Bigger fish baits (on the bottom) on a 4/0 Mustad for conger (maybe?).
