I'd say you are correct in it being a roach/bream hybrid.

Sorry JK! didnt mean it to be that short.Yes it looks like a classic roach/bream hybrid to me.As you say they really fight well dont they.Great baits as well due to there strength.Used to catch some crackers at Ardingly.Best I have heard of seem to be around the 4lb mark.As far as I remember there is no official record for them.Dont know why.Was once told (by a well known angling press man) that this was due to the fact that the percentage of bream or roach in a hybrid could vary to much!!!!!! Couldnt really get my head around that one and put it down to the smelly stuff that comes from male cows.Dont forget (like it seems the press man had!) that in general (always?) hybrids dont reproduce. Then again would there be a difference depending on which species the egg came from? Im not so sure now!One for Bruno me thinks

Hi all,
we regularily catch big roach/bream hybrids up to the 6lb mark on the river lune, they really go and put up one hell of a scrap. Fight a lot more than the double figure bream in there, really nice fish. Gary |
