hi all,im a newcomer to the site and possibly the worlds worst angler,but i still love being out there.recently found a great little lake.however a boilie ban is inforce.what actually constitutes a boilie?.rob

That's both an easy question and a hard question!
A boilie, as meant in this context is a paste mixed with egg (usually) and then boiled to create a hard skin on the bait with the intention of preventing small fish from whittling away the bait.
One of my clubs once tried to ban boilies on one particular lake, air dried groundbait balls were produced at the next meeting which were so hard that you would have needed a pnematic drill to get into them. The point being that carp anglers could easily outwit a *boilie* ban.
You could use exactly the same ingredients and steam them, it's a better bait anyway and it's not boiled, but it's also not in the spirit of the thing, it's up to you.
