whats going on, its an easy equation

motorist = easy money to increase revenue

solution = motorist to say no more and refuse to pay silly fines, can you imagine the chaos that would be caused if every motorist got a parking ticket on purpose and refused to pay and demanded there day in court, the court system would collapse, perhaps this is the only way motorist could show any government there displeasure on constant tax hikes/unfair fines/speed cameras on them just to increase revenue
but have the british got the balls for this type of action, in a word NO

And the police wonder why the general public have no respect for them.

They're out and about sitting at the side of the road collecting fixed penalty fines to boost their coffers while drug addics run rampage breaking and entering to fuel their habbits.

It's a pitty the Council Tax we all pay isn't subject to the Trade Descriptions Act. If a private company sells goods of unmerchantable quality to you, you can sting them in the small claims court. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of people paying council tax aren't getting the services they are paying through the nose for.

Three points and a fine for an empty washer bottle and a loose battery connector. And all the while I'll bet the officers concerned will have been driving round all night in an urban 30MPH zone at 35MPH. If you notice, the police don't practice what they preach. Do as we say, not as we do.

Tight Lines.

Hope you don't mnd mate but i'm pinching this link & posting it on MD, a lot of the posters on there are from the yorks area so it should be quite good fun when they give their "opinions" :D

Chris

I wish we could take them to court over it, a friend of my mums has just taken severn trent to court for ripping him off.

He's not conected to any sewerage system & yet they've been charging him for taking his waste water away veen though it all goes into his septic tank which he pays to have emptied, after speaking with some advice group they've told him he can charge severn trent for taking away the water from guttering etc!!

Just waiting to see what happens now, this could be one of those "pave the way" cases.

Just going to play Devils advocate here, would you have the same opinion If your son,Daughter, wife or any other member of your family was to killed in a multi car pile up driving along a wet motorway in winter, when it comes to the inquest the main contributing factor to the multi car pile was a dirty windscreen and the vehicle which caused the pile up had a empty washer reservoir, the vehicle then caught fire due to it's loose battery connection which then spread to the adjacent vehicles burning alive those who were trapped in thier cars. not so black and white now.
I agree we are taxed to death in this country but at the end of the day how easy is it to fill a water bottle and tighten a nut.
As for the Police, the average P.C is doing as as they are told by senior ranks, and yes I do have respect for them, but I don't have the same respect for the guy's who policy make.

Tony C:
Just going to play Devils advocate here,

Nice one, I spent Sunday afternoon topping up the battery and cleaning the terminals, topped up the water bottle and put fresh anti freeze in. I don't do these jobs because the law says I have to, it is just common sense.

How many times have you had a vehicle coming at you with only 1 light working? you may be tempted to think it is a motor cycle!

I will now go and read the original topic link :)

Alan Too many, As a research & development consultant I have had the opportunity work with some police forces, the point of these initiatives is to get people to do what we are doing know, discusing and thinking about vehicle safety.
