struggling to catch...as usual, I dropped a piece of bait into a rock pool, within seconds blennies of up to an oz appeared, and once the bait was gone dissappeared just as quickly.
I got out some course gear and barbless hooks and had a fun few minutes catching these until the wised up, am I on my own or does anyone else target mini sea species from time to time, and if so what and how????

Not so much targeting mini species, but I have found that whiting on a pier are good fun on a stalking rod and smoothounds are pretty impressive on carp gear!

phil, One specie, three bearded rockling.
I have caught these small, ugly, but ever so obliging fish at every venue, while fishing for every other specie in the sea.
I have even caught them in places where they "are not caught".
If you want real fun on light tackle, try flounder fishing in an estuary.

I have some coi carp in two small ponds in the garden, when the weather is bad, my son and I use a 15M pole so that we can fish them from the bedroom window whilst watching TV. We order a special pizza and try all the stuff as bait in different forms. We use very light tackle as the landing net will not reach and it is better for the line to snap than to get up and unhook. If you are still reading and believing this then I am sorry for pulling your leg.

If you are interested in mini species, try the rock edges of Treadurr Bay on Angelsey.
This area is reknowned for the many different species it holds in Summer. Dont forget a fish identification book!

Phil - years ago I saw pictures of a house in Alaska that had been built with a stream running thru one of the rooms. Set up so they could fish from the inside of the house.
I always wanted to do something similar myself but guess now I never will.
Even a 15mtr pole wouldn't reach water from where I am living now.
