Hi all,

On tight lines nigel wiliams showed some of this wire that looked like braid and acted like it also.

I couldnt see the name of it and I dont recall the name.

All I can remember was he had used it for a while now and said it was good stuff for fishing for chub with fishy baits or perch just incase a pike came along.

Any ideas ?

Unless you were looking for that particular brand of line, you'd probably do as well with any good 49 strand wire. The stuff is about the same to use as braid but resists cutting like wire.

Look at the French Connection, maybe? The French have long been excellent with tinsels and wires.

Back in the early 1980s I was given some simply incredible low-breaking-strain, soft, knottable wire by a major French tackle-dealer based in Angers on the River Loire. He used it for light-line big-zander sink-and-draw deadbait fishing; back here, I used it for deadbaiting for big chub (on a river where pike biteoffs were frequent).

Lost contact with the man; never seen that wonderful wire advertized there or anywhere since.

Something else that may be of interest is Titanium Wire since it is flexible, stretches just a little, and won't kink. Not cheap by any means but lasts a long time in use. I don't have a need for wire leader but I have begun using spinner baits with titanium rather than steel wire and the stuff is wonderful. Tie it in a knot, untie it, and no damage or even any sign you tied it.

The only bendy wire I can think of was the Fox Soft Steel. This is a soft steel constructed from 49strands of wire, making it probably the supplest trace material on the market
