Is there a worm shortage or something in the Liverpool area??.
Only asking as I was in the Local tackle shop on Saturday for an hour or four and in that time one fellow bought all the shop stock of frozen lug that was left after the morning sales.
Fot the next 3 hrs at least 10 people came in for as many packets of lug as they could buy and the phone rang about the same amount of time with people asking for lug.
Or is there loads of fish in the Mersey to be caught?

Hi Keith,
There is a lug worm and Suey (Blackworm) shortage causing big problems for local anglers and the commercial diggers are clearing the beaches faster than lighting, you will also notice the price rise from £2:00 up to as much as £3:25 for Suey !!! Also with the amount of Cod in the Mersey the favoured bait is worm and it would normally be just mackerel or sand eel at this time of the year, the Mersey has produced some good fish already this season and tut tut for not visiting my site to see the reports !!! the catches reported are :- Coalfish, Rockling, Cod, Dabs, Doggies, Smoothound, Conger, Ray, Dover Sole, Bass & of course the Whiting this is the best the River has ever been

What is your site url and I will visit it.
From what I have heard, the river around Otterspool is bouncing with fish.
I have no sea fishing gear so will have to sit on my hands!!!!

Keith - your freshwater gear should do for an occasional bit of sea fishing. Just make sure to wash it good after the trip.

I do so little sea fishing that it would make no sense for me to own specific rods/reels just for that so I use what I have. A really good fresh-water wash down after the trip and it comes thru unharmed. I've several rods and reels that have made a week's beach fishing every year for the past 6 or 7 years and it shows no ill effects. I do tend to use reels that are easy to dis-assemble for washing though. One reason I still love my old Mitchell 300s.

Keith,
You can pick a rod and reel up for around £50:00 if not cheaper, all you will need to add to it is the basic hooks and so on, again try my site to se what Gerry Bonner has on offer (Due to be updated) and the lug worm problem - well depends were you plan to fish as there are a few beds that you can easily get worm with a spade (Not Pump)
