just tried to link up with my mum and she can see me but both have no sound

this may tie in with my problem I have just got a head set on front of pc are 2 sockets both marked pink one has mic symbol other has headphones,nothing is ever simple ,head set has a pink and a green jack !!!!!! cannot recieve sound or talk .....which goes in where,also do i have to change anything at the back


thanks as always .... me thinks this is getting tooo much technology for me!!!!!!

pink is mic -- green is speaker - are you sure the front ports work try plugging in at the back

also once plugged in have you run the sound set up prog

Xp- start control panel,sound,settings ----- if memory serves correct have forgot most of XP work arounds as got my Vista head on
similar if you are on vista just click speaker and recording tabs to set up

@chef - sounds like you havent set up sound settings yet

If it's a USB webcam, you probably need to set the correct microphone on tools/options/audio settings in Skype (assuming that's what you are using). By default, it tends to use the soundcard's mic, the USB webcam's mic will be listed separately.
