Narrow victory for Sam!

A gin clear and slowly rising River Avon threw up a very close result list at the latest Evesham Festival Saturday fixture which was won at downstream Hampton Ferry peg 75 by Maver Barnsley team man Sam Wildsmith.

Working with a long pole and bloodworm, Sam put together a mixed catch of roach, perch and small skimmers for a winning net of 9-0-0.

Sam WildsmithIn second spot was Daiwa Dorking team man Simon Willsmore with 8-8-0 of bloodworm tempted roach from Peg 51 on the White House Bend.

At Peg 30, third placed Daniel Varney (Drennan Oxford) used bloodworm and hemp to put together 7-12-0 of roach, a catch that put him ahead of his team-mate Steve Townsend with 6-15-0 of roach from Peg 50. Final frame place went to Dave Harpin (Daiwa Dorking) with 6-7-0 0f roach from Peg 69.
