Names and deposits for the winter league are being taken. –

 General

Lots of rain again but water temperature has held in the 16 degs, not sure how as some cold ambient temperatures this week. Fish genetically know shorter day light hours mean autumn and winter around the corner so are feeding very strongly, and looking for proteins and feed to form amino acids to get them through the long cold days ahead.
Some very good catches with more good sized specimens coming out in all species, angel stocked fish have spawned successfully for four years and the original fish have lots of their young surviving this years carp are now past 6 oz last years over 1lb etc. It is critical to make sure you use larger hook baits or you will get angel home bred youngsters in all species.

Best bait on hook are pellet all forms and try paste made from angel pellets-works a treat, meat cubes dried slightly but must be still juicy to attract fish or soaked in a flavouring overnight and placed in poly bag in fridge to absorb flavouring.
We are still in warm water temperatures so sweet food does the best, strawberry, Brasem, pineapple, etc.
Feed angel pellets (only feed allowed) and try soaking some in matching flavours to the flavours of hook baits. Soak angel pellets to use as a groundbait adding caster or maggot or even chopped worm, or feed and plop in pellets well above water level to attract fish by the noise, which emulates us feeding lakes.
Get Feed patterns correct and you will bag up all day.

Lots of Crucians being caught some to 3lb but average is 2lb, tench also are feeding up very well, carp are moving in shoals in their size range (which is linked to age range also) so if you get carp in your swim they tend to be the same size and weight range.  This applies to skimmers and bream these also like to be in shoals of equals and huge quantities coming out, you need to be careful with shoals as foul hooking is a good possibility in shoals as they are so tight together feeding.  Some stunning Rudd and Golden Rudd on the drop best weight over 2lb, Ide and Roach also growing well and caught in good numbers, Perch are caught in numbers if targeted with correct baits but the larger perch are elusive at the moment.
Norman Eden fishing 16aa Took carp, crucians, tench, golden tench, skimmers, and mixed silvers all on pellet soaked with garlic flavouring.

Bowes

Carp are moving according to wind feeding well on insects etc, water temp is warmest off the bottom and in margins (which warm quickest WHEN we get sun l
ight). Carp feeding very well at dusk and dawn,  Our largest fish and many 20s out this week the highest proportion from the margins, who take the bait and  take off up the lake and they go like a sprinter in the Olympics!
Colin Thomson fishing peg 17 on luncheon meat over angel pellets (fed well)  in a short session 20 past 4 to 10 past 7 took  28 carp.
Jimmy Hagan trying out several bait methods found paste or pellets were Ok but a worm tail tipped by sweetcorn worked the best, worm on its own or sweetcorn on its own did not produce the quality or quantity of fish the worm cocktail provided.

Some very promising new anglers coming into the sport with Alex Weatherly catching a stunning carp of 9lb and a good Ide of 2lb Alex is progressing so well and enjoys his sport.
Maggot is proving best hook bait with pellet a good second,
