In the last eight days water temperatures have plummeted down 6 deg over 3 days with hailstones, heavy rain and high winds, The temperature Levelled off,   then rose  as sharply to 17.6 deg rising still.  However fish have continued to feed as different species are  both pre and post spawning, Carp took the drop in water temperatures by going down and leaving  the margins, but are  back on to ferociously  feeding in the margins as the water temperature is nearly hitting the magical 18 deg water temp to trigger spawning for them. Tench just going into spawning so high numbers being caught as they feed to gain condition.

Lookout mixed coarse lake

Is fishing excellently with high numbers of carp to 8lb.  Tench to 7lb 6oz, (with lots of good sized carp caught in Sundays match), Golden tench some in excess of 2lb plus, some excellent Rudd,   Golden Rudd  and Roach with some hitting 2lb plus, lots of crucian carp average 2lb with some hitting 3 to 4lb (will have a record out soon on crucians), Perch in profusion,  Skimmers now averaging 1lb plus, and some excellent bream out to 6lb plus,

We now have our 3rd season of fish spawning and our last years Angel bred carp are coming out at 8oz, and the year before at 1lb plus, our stocked carp are averaging 2.5lb upwards. Last years tench being caught at 4oz and the year before at 8oz, and loads of our other home bred species now being caught. So choosing to catch larger species or home bred smaller species is a good options now, obviously the bait and tackle need to determine your choice of size of fish to catch.

Bowes Carp

Some excellent numbers of large carp have been caught this week as the carp feed up to ready themselves for spawning, 5 x 20lb plus caught in 1 day and both pleasure and match fishing have taken over 25 double figured carp this week.

Some great sport on under 10lb carp this week with huge numbers being caught by pleasure anglers. Last years home bred carp to 8oz also coming out in large numbers but some exquisite fully scaled mirror carp home bred are gracing the anglers catches, as these grow they are going to be stunning fish.

Still fishing at an astonishing catch rate, this pond never ceases to amaze us,  First time anglers from 7 yrs to 73 yrs have had in excess of 35 fish per person  in a 3 hour coaching session. On Sunday we had  another birthday fishing party with 4 to 7 yr olds, this  produced lots of fish averaging 24 per child, the coaches were ran ragged landing and unhooking for the kids as the fishing was so good. We think we have got some new converts to fishing out of the party as the kids loved the sport.

The Junior club meets every Friday Evening and all are welcome, we meet at 6pm.
