General

A week of Ground frosts, rain, wind swinging to Northerly and North Easterly, to Easterly  not wind directions for productive angling!  But the weather is forecast to change at last in the week ahead !!
Water temperatures have varied up and down again, but daylight longer hours are getting fish to start feeding as spawning is due to start so they need to get weigh on and fit for spawning.
Catches have been methodical with a good tench of 8lb a male and large bags of golden tench, carp have been very prevalent on a good selection of baits,  some extremely good Rudd, Roach, Ide and Orfe being caught to around 2lb, Bream to 7lb and Skimmers in large numbers, no Crucians, or Perch reported caught this week.
Feed angel pellets or maggots, or chop caster or maggots mixed with groundbait or pellet,   hook baits that are working are pellet, hair rigged angel pellets both RS 4.5 , 6 & 10mm, sweetcorn, worm, caster, however maggot being the best with water temp drop.
Methods – tip and maggot feeder doing the job, good days with little wind pole excels, waggler also working well.
Lookout
Stev Shilling had a good 3 hour session on the island peg 15 with 25 carp and 2 tench all good fish on pole, 3 meters out on hook 6 mm pellet over 6mm feed pellet.
Paul and Eddie Burton from Peterlee had a good but very wet session on Wednesday with Carp to 4lb, Tench,  an excellent golden Orfe of 2lb plus, Ide, Rudd & Roach on pellet and maggot.

Bowes
With the water temp drop and wind changing direction to N & NE it has been critical to choose your peg wisely to get good catches, some catch rates of 60 plus carp in half day sessions have been possible,.
Dave Hodgson had 10 carp for 44lb, good average weight of 4lb 4oz per carp. Strangely almost all carp caught were commons, depending on bait and peg choice were the key to size of the carp caught.
Jimmy Hagan had a good day on Sunday with 21 carp to 5lb on maggot feeder and worm tails on hook.
Start using larger hook baits or multiple maggots,  feed angel feed pellets or maggots  to get carp into your swim.

Bassetts
Great pond steady catches even though wind direction is bad and water temp drop, some good numbers of smaller fish under 1lb and quite a few well above 4lb including some excellent carp.

Coaching is progressing well at week ends and mid week does need to be booked to sort out angling coaches.
