1st National college based Angling Academy launched

There is nothing fishy about the launch of the nation’s first college based Angling Academy. Brooksby Melton College and the Angling Development Board have come together to launch the revolutionary Angling Academy. Based at the college’s Brooksby Campus, the academy gives young people the opportunity get a vocational qualification in subjects such as sport, construction or motor vehicle and at the same time develop their angling skills.

BMC are holding a launch event on Friday 16th April, so that young anglers aged 14-19 can meet the coaches and tutors and get involved in an hour long an angling session. Special sporting guests will include England International Darren Cox and Matt Godfrey 3 x Junior World Champion.

“We are really excited about making angling more accessible to young people in the East Midlands. Working with BMC we can ensure that young people get a great education and at the same time develop their skills for angling, to enable them to compete at the highest levels of the sport,”  said Julian Taylor, East Midlands Regional Development Officer.

New students to the college, will from September, be able to take Sports and Recreation qualifications, these are a great way to kick-start a career in the sporting industry as a sports professional, coach, trainer, teacher or sports centre manager, the options are endless.
