News Release from the Angling Trust

At its meeting on 25th October, the Angling Trust Directors voted unanimously to co-opt a new member to the Board. Dick Vincent wrote to chief executive Mark Lloyd volunteering his expertise in areas of governance and finance. He attended the meeting on Monday and has joined the Board as a non-Executive Director with immediate effect.

Dick joined as an individual member of the Angling Trust when it was launched as the representative body for all anglers in January 2009. He has recently retired from a successful career as a chartered accountant, including 24 years as an audit partner in two ‘Big 4’ firms (PricewaterhouseCoopers and KPMG). He also specialises in business and brand development. A keen angler since he can remember, he enjoys coarse fishing on the Thames, Nene and Wye and sea angling in Cornwall.

Dick Vincent said: “I am passionate about angling and excited about the potential for the Angling Trust to protect our sport and the environment on which it depends. I am keen to volunteer my time to help the organisation develop as it builds on its many successes over the last two years.”

Mike Heylin, Chairman of the Angling Trust, said: “We are very pleased that Dick volunteered and is happy to help us in these key areas. His skills, experience and credibility will be very important to our development of the Trust over the coming years. His level of commercial experience is just what the Trust needs and now we have the challenge of finding similar volunteers to assist us with fundraising and sponsorships, PR and communications and marketing and membership services.”

The Angling Trust’s financial position has improved significantly following improved financial management, growth in membership and fundraising over the past year.
