May 22nd–24th, 2008, marked the first Rossler Austrian Carp Cup match. Held at Oeynhausener Lakes in Southern Vienna, 41 teams of 2 pair anglers from all over the world fished the 48 hour match.

Chub Carp Academy Manager, Jason Green and Product Manager, Lee Collings represented Britain with Team Greys/ Chub.

The team struggled for the first 16 hours, catching nothing before fish started showing at a range of between 150- 160 yards.

Using a 13ft X-Flite Plus 3.5lb 50s Rods the guy’s were able to fish at this extreme range and within minutes there were takes on single hook baits and the team continued catching throughout the 2nd day, all the way up to the final whistle.

A tense battle started in the last few hours of the match with 2nd and 3rd regularly swopping places in the last few hours. At one stage the two positions were within 90 grams of one another however, with only fifteen minutes to go Lee Collings landed a fish, taking Team Greys/ Chub representing Britain to 2nd place with a total weight of 65.4kg.

Lee and Jason came runners up behind Michael Huber and Peter Mayer of Team Greys/Chub from Byron, who took first place with a total weight of 137.5Kg and were ahead of Andreas Slama and Peter Muller of Team SMMP with a total weight of 62.1Kg.
Team Greys/ Chub said;

“It was a tense battle and there were some hairy moments in the last few hours of the competition but Team Greys/ Chub pulled through and managed to take 2nd place.”
