An excellent day was had by all at Beaulieu’s annual BoatJumble on 17 April 2011. Sponsored by Practical Boat Owner Magazine, the event took place on a beautiful sunny day, and the crowds were out in force to enjoy the warm weather and pick up some boating bargains.
The event was very successful with an enjoyable atmosphere and excellent visitor numbers of 9,048. The glorious sunshine and happy crowds contributed to make the BoatJumble a fantastic day out, both for families and boating enthusiasts alike.
Exhibitors reported good trade, and there were certainly very few people going home empty-handed. Sale items ranged from complete boats to small chandlery items, and 795 stands were open for business on the day, peddling their wares. This year the Trunk Traders area had been enlarged, and over a hundred amateur jumblers were busy selling on their surplus sailing items from their car boots.
There was also a Land Rover Experience Trailer Handling competition which gave visitors the opportunity to win an afternoon’s adventure on a C-Fury by manoeuvring a 15’ trailer with C-Fury rib, assisted by the latest technology on a Discovery.
The Lymington Coastguard helicopter made its annual fly-past on the morning of the event, and Aqua Zorb was a very popular activity, which gave visitors the opportunity to walk on water in giant transparent balls.
The 35th Beaulieu BoatJumble is set to take place next year on Sunday 29th April 2012.
