Have you always wanted to have a go at fishing but not known how to start?
Would you like to give your kids a chance to fish on a safe river bank under the guidance of qualified instructors?
Or are you just looking for something to do with the kids over the holidays?
Well now is your chance to give it a go and all for free!
On Friday 30th July 2010 Carlisle Anglers Association have organised a free, fun and informative day out on the banks of the river Eden in Rickerby Park, Carlisle just downstream of the Memorial (Suspension) Bridge between 10am to 4pm, for young people who may be interested in fishing.
Although the day is aimed at young people up to 16 years of age, parents are welcome to come along with their children.
Youngsters will be able to try both fly fishing and bait fishing and improve fishing and casting skills with the help of qualified instructors, try fly tying and tie their own fly, learn about the plant, invertebrate, fish and wild life of the river Eden with experts from the Eden Rivers Trust as well as taking part in competitions such as fly and bait casting, tying the best fly, identifying the invertebrates and much more culminating in a quiz at the end of the day. There are some superb prizes and drinks and snacks are provided for those taking part on the day.
The day starts at 10am and ends at 4pm and entry is free and open to all on the day although because of demand in order to guarantee participation in all the activities it is best to register with Chris Bowman prior to the event. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01228 674519.
