Just 3 weeks after breaking the Wingham record with a 54-12 mirror Rob Burrage has landed the most sought after fish in the lake, a heavily-plated mirror that hadn't seen the bank for 2 years. At 49-06 it was exactly 5lbs heavier than 2 years ago.
This time Rob fished even closer at just 15 yards and so was able to lightly bait up his Shoreline Baits GLM Sausage Oil boilies with a catapult.
The 43 year old structural designer from Sevenoaks used the same hookbait and rig as for his 54lber - a Specialised Hookbaits S2 pop-up on a G-Force size 6 straight point hook on a G-Force Blackout hook link.
Rob said, "This is my second fantastic fish in 3 weeks and obviously I'm delighted. However I'm genuinely not surprised at the size they reach at Wingham, because when we pull the weed out on work parties it contains so much natural food the weed tries to crawl back in!"
Steve Burke, the creator of the Kent complex, is also delighted. He added, "We've already had both a 50lb+ English common and mirror this year. Hopefully we'll have a third 50 by next Spring!"
