Weekly report by Marlene Mc Laughlin – 14th February, 2010

Another weekend of unpredictable weather, with the lake being partly frozen for most of time.  Anglers were still keen to give Cashel a throw with quite a few trout being caught up to double figures.  Dungiven’s Mark Boyce released half a dozen trout which took buzzers but unfortunately he lost just as many.  Bernard Mellon (Maghera) released thirteen with one of them weighing 8lb.  Martin Bradley (Dungiven) released an amazing seventeen trout which took zonkers, buzzers and nymphs.  Some of his trout were averaging 4lb while having a couple up to 8lb.  Kevin Burke (Claudy) and Jimmy Norton (Maghera) found it slightly difficult during the icy conditions managing only the one trout each.

River Licences are also on sale here.

Breakfast is now being served at Cashel in the comfort of an open log fire with plenty of craic.

We are now taking group bookings for any angling club or corporate groups interested in a fun day.  Catering facilities are available in the adjacent Cashel Fishing Lodge.  Info and enquiries to Marlene at 17 Birren Road, Dungiven, Co L’Derry, BT47 4SH, Tel: 02877742159, email:casheltrout@hotmail.com, www.cashellakeview.com.
