Weekly report by Marlene Mc Laughlin

Temperatures have risen slightly this weekend giving anglers a better chance to catch a trout or two.

Using buzzers, Maghera’s Bernard Mellon released nineteen trout while Dungiven’s Mark Boyce released eleven in total which took assorted buzzers also.  Thomas Farren (Glenullin, Garvagh) bagged one weighing 3lb 1oz and released two other which all took cat’s whiskers.  Vincent Harkin (Letterkenny) took one home which was 2lb in weight.  Kevin Burke (Claudy) hooked and lost his three which took a wee black nymph. One of his trout was around 9lb. Young lads, Caolan Mc Nally (Clady, Portglenone), Paddy McKenna (Lavey) and Eoin Mc Gill (Lavey) had an enjoyable day bagging a trout each with Eoin’s trout being the heaviest at 5lb 2ozs.  These anglers were using assorted lures.  John Hasson and Martin Bradley (Dungiven) finished Sunday evening using suspender buzzers, zonkers and a few dries.  John released one and lost one which straightened the hook while Martin released three of 3lb average.

River Licences are also on sale here.

Breakfast is now being served at Cashel in the comfort of an open log fire with plenty of craic.
