It has been a weekend of wintry weather, especially Sunday but some anglers are not deterred by these conditions.  Newcomer, Sean O’Doherty from Letterkenny used the black and green Montana and the ace of spades to bank ten lovely trout taking two of them home which weighed 5lb 3ozs. Brothers Kieran and Bernard Mellon had thirteen trout between them in a few hours using the green and black fritz.  Colm Doole and Willie Evans from Clady Angling Club banked five trout but unfortunately lost just as many.  Gerard Webb (Dunloy) had seven trout to the bank and also lost quite a few.  Gerard, however, did manage to bank one lovely one, which took a zonker, weighing approximately 6lb.  Marius and Fiona Viljoen (Claudy) had a very cold day but did manage to bank a couple in the end.

Breakfast is now being served at Cashel in the comfort of an open log fire with plenty of craic.  Group bookings are most welcome during the week.  Tightlines for next weekend and fingers crossed for a tagged trout.

Foyle and Carlingford Area Licences can be purchased at Cashel Trout Fishery.
