Catch Report – 31st October – 6th November 2011

Sailing Lake
The predator fishing has really gone up another gear this week with lots of Pike to mid doubles and Zander to 12lb 8oz coming from most areas of the lake. Rob Drake of Leicester was again amongst the big Zeds with a 12lb 8oz fish and a smaller 8lb Zed, Rob fished at range in the open water from the sailing club spit to take both fish on a legered Roach deadbait. Alan Thomas of Nottingham also got amongst the big Zeds with a fantastic 5 fish haul in a late night session, Alan took fish of 12lb 6oz, 11lb, 10lb 13oz and 10lb 8oz, Alan took all of his fish from in front of the sailing club fishing to the edge off a weedbed, legered Roach and Skimmer deadbaits were the winning baits. Arguably the weeks luckiest catch though was Mark Slade of Boston’s new personal best Zander taken on a Chapel baits plumb & Blackpepper pop-up boilie! Mark was fishing for the resident big carp when he hooked the Zed fair and square in the bottom lip! Talking of Carp, Mark had fished a 48 Hour session earlier on in the week to take a beautifully conditioned 24lb 7oz Common, again the fish was taken on the Chapel Baits Plumb & Blackpepper pop-up fished over a sprinkling of the same from peg 52. Plenty of Pike are also hitting the banks with countless low double figure fish being taken on lured with the back bays and channels being particularly good areas. The weeks biggest fish was a 16lb 6oz fish taken on a legered herring in the back channel, the lucky captor was Adam Hollis of Loughborough.

Bream fishing has slowed a little, however bags of 30lb are still being reported with method feeder and boilies being the killer tactic used.

Roach fishing though is really good at the moment with pole tactics on the road bank taking bags of Roach and Skimmers to 15lb. Best catch of the week came to Harry Connors of Leicester, Harry fished the relatively unfished back bay by the road to take a fabulous bag of Roach, Rudd, Skimmers and cracking Perch for an estimated 20lb, Harry fished the pole on chopped worm and maggot.
