Following last month’s foray into Wales, early April has found Chips4Fish on Humberside and in Lancashire.

At Westlands Lakes, Sigglesthorpe near Hull, a re-stocking programme of a previously pollution affected lake is seeing 65 20lb – 30lb carp being undertaken and lake owners Dorothy and Peter Walker are adding microchip ID to their stock and offering the microchipping service to surrounding lake owners.

Then across to Lancashire where Horn’s Dam Fishery, Goosnargh, near Preston is adding microchip management and security to their fish stock also.

“We always look to train a new implanter or two when we go to a fishery – this makes it a better deal for the fishery and they can then chip their own stock when necessary which brings the price right down” said Chips4Fish boss Tony Loveless.

The trip saw four new implanters trained, one at Westlands Lakes and three at Horn’s Dam, one of these being a lecturer in fishery studies from Myerscough College, Preston.

Any lakes looking to add microchips to their fish for management and/or security should contact www.chips4fish.com
