“As a passionate river angler of many years standing myself I would urge anyone who has connections with river fishing, be it as a water owner, an association or as an angler to come along and support initiatives like this one. Any help, guidance or support that we can get can only benefit the long term future of river fishing.”

Martin Salter added:
“It looks like being a great event on June 9th and I would urge everyone who cares about the future of coarse fishing in our wonderful rivers to make time to attend. I will be talking about the reasons for the decline in the popularity of river fishing and look at some of the reasons for this as well as some of the threats to coarse fish stocks in our rivers. I’m sure there will be much lively debate around issues such as predation, the river close season, abstraction and low flows and I hope we can use the day to formulate some useful strategies for much needed improvements.”
