We just received the following from Chris Bowman and, because we’re nice, we’re sharing it with you….

Dear All,

Since the close of the salmon season in mid October, Cumbria’s river Eden has been running low and clear, perfect conditions for grayling and anglers fishing with Professional Anglers Association Coach and guide Chris Bowman have been enjoying good catches. Carlisle’s Peter Bell recently joined Chris on the river and landed his first ever grayling and chub. Trotting red maggots on a size 14 hook to a 3lb hook link under a 4AAA Avon float, using a centre pin reel Peter soon landed his first  grayling; the biggest of the day weighing 1lb 14oz. He then went on to catch another 6 grayling, 5 of which were over 1lb 8oz, before trying for chub; quiver tipping link legered bread flake on a size 4 hook he missed his first bite but after recasting managed to hook his second, a 3lb 12oz chub.

In between taking clients out on the river Chris has been making the most of the ideal grayling conditions himself landing two Eden grayling in excess of 2lbs in recent weeks. Trotting maggots with the aid of a centre pin Chris has landed grayling of 2lb 4oz and 2lb 9oz.
