Catch report for week ending 5th August, 2012

There cannot be many venues in the Devon area where the average weight of fish caught is an astonishing 32lbs, but that is exactly what happened at Emperor Lakes this week on the Syndicate lake! What is currently the Syndicate will have full public access from April 2013, so start making your plans now!

Steve Burgess offered CB65 from Essex Baits to bag a smashing 30lbs 4oz mirror, Dave Pierce chipped in with a fish of 27lbs 4oz and Carl Brown, after waiting years to get on the lake, scored straight away with a beauty of 35lbs 4oz! Pallatrax Jungle baits have been accounting for plenty of big fish too; Mark Owen landed a fine brace of 33lbs 9oz and 36lbs 10oz, and Pallatrax bait manager Tim Mountjoy is amongst the fish again with a pair of mirrors at 33lbs 2oz and 36lbs8oz to round up a good week.

Mirror Carp

The day ticket specimen lake has thrown up loads of fish including good catfish for our visitors. Matt Attwood used Emperor Lakes own baits to slip the net under cats of 33lbs 10oz and 33lbs 14oz, and Donny Tom snaffled a smaller cat of 16lbs+. Donny also managed a common carp of 21lbs 2oz on Steve Renyard Contrast baits. Barry Taylor had a brace of common carp, bith of 17lbs and one of our new visitors, Michael May grasped advice given previously to take a brand new personal best of 28lbs 8oz and a single figure back up fish. He also took time to write and tell us how much he had enjoyed his session. Dave Wood is still part way through a week long session; after just 48 hours, he has had ten fish to 27lbs+ on Pallatrax baits, so we expect even more!

Rod Worrall now has a passion for tincas and has been back again this week to take fish averaging averaging 5lbs in weight and has also has an eel of 4lbs+ as they continue to be caught with some regularity. Other anglers are still taking good mixed bags in excess of 60lbs on float, feeder or pole.

In other news, we have now taken delivery of our first batch of Palltrax baits and terminal tackle for our onsite shop which will complement our existing stocks of Cornwall Baits so you can pick up bait on arrival. Work has started this week on the brand new shop/reception area to be sited at the fishery entrance and a new ‘catch return’ box will also be installed so anglers can report their catches to help us manage our waters efficiently and inform us what is being caught. Our new website is also nearing completion and should go live very soon! www.emperorlakes.co.uk
