Catch report for week ending 7th July, 2012 – fishing in Devon

What a week! The weather has caused chaos at Emperor Lakes this week, damage to access routes, water levels at an all time high and flood reliefs needing to be cut, but brave anglers are still catching fish despite the incessant rain!

Emperor Lakes boss David Lidstone managed his second overnight session in two years on the syndicate and was extremely pleased to slip the net under a smashing 33lbs common, Rod Phillips used Cornwall Baits offerings to bag fish of 35lbs 11ozs, 29lbs 1oz and 21lbs 9ozs, Chris Rampling had a new personal best fish of 37lbs which he tripped up using an Ace Bait boilie and Phil Jakes struck gold when he moved from the bottom lake back to the syndicate and had yet another personal best at 34lbs 12ozs! The final fish reported from the syndicate this week was taken by Steve Burgess who used Essex Baits tempters to land a mirror weighing exactly 25lbs.

The day lakes have also been prolific, with a number of hardy anglers sitting out the weather; Nigel Brittan was determined that the rain wouldn’t stop him fishing during his first ever visit and he was rewarded with a brace of common carp of 19lbs 2ozs and 20lbs 8ozs, Pete Scrivanos had a five fish hit to 23lbs 12ozs which included a stunning golden grass carp, and Clifford Baker, Joe Teale and Paul Wood all had mid doubles on a variety of baits.

Dan’s and Aimee’s Pools still giving up mixed bags to around 80lbs, normal tactics of pellets, corn and maggots offering the best chance of a hefty net.

In other news, Emperor Lakes were delighted to receive a call from Bev Clifford on behalf of Coarse Angling Today and Pike and Predator magazines who has asked if a catfish feature can be accommodated, so keep an eye out in the mainstream angling press for an exciting expose into out resident moggies! We are also pleased to announce that our brand new website should be live within the next 14 days to keep all our customers updated.
