A fantastic week around the fishery with loads of hungry carp hitting the banks and the grand opening of our brand new cafe/shop too!
Mainline Cell proved to be the downfall of a cracking trio on the Carp Lake for venue regular Mark Owen who netted a 27lbs 15ozs common and mirrors of 27lbs 15ozs and 30lbs exactly to cap a great session. Neil Edworthy chipped in with a 25lbs 8ozs mirror and Dave Pierce used a frankfurter flavour boilie to capture a mirror carp of 28lbs 14ozs.
Over on the Specimen Lake, a number of new personal bests have been taken; Andy Nicholls caught a grass carp of 20lbs on floating baits, Elliot Read started with a mid double ghost common before adding a pb 51lb catfish which fell to a floating bait and Eric Bunton also put a personal best in his photo album with a 54lbs 8ozs cat fish which picked up his Spam hookbait before also taking a 20lbs carp. Josh Adams, Ian Oxenham, Nick Mills and Ashley Kelly all fish with Ashley’s the best of the rest at 25lbs 4ozs, which he took on worms. Eels have also been showing with Josh taking the biggest of the week at 3lbs 8ozs.
‘Runs water’ Jo-Jo’s continues to offer plenty of rod bending sport for just £8 per day, or £15 for 24 hours. Most anglers are reporting multiple catches, but pick of the week goes to Steve Sampson for his 20 fish haul of carp to just over 11lbs. As usual, the method is proving the preferred tactic with Pallatrax baits offering a range of options.
The new cafe/shop is now open and serving a range of hot meals and drinks which can be delivered around the fishery or eaten on the verandah overlooking the lakes. If you need to order in advance, fresh baits can then be available when you arrive and any forgotten tackle items can also be purchased.
