A quiet week on the syndicate this time, wet weather has seen some anglers stay away, but those who have braved the conditions have stories to tell! Chris Rampling has been having an awful lot of success and his run continued with a fantastic fish of 21lbs 11ozs; Mark Owen did even better when he bagged a mirror of 29lbs 10ozs and a common carp of 29lbs 7ozs which both fell to Pallatrax Jungle baits which are available onsite. The story of the week however belongs to Lee Cooper who recently netted ‘Moth’ at 40lbs 2ozs; Lee had been struggling for form on the syndicate, but after landing one of our bigger residents, he only did it again this week when ‘Moth’ fell to his baits again at 41lbs 2ozs having put on 1lb in just a week! It even came from the very same ‘Boat’ swim! Superb angling and well deserved reward for Lee, so a big ‘well done’ from all at Emperor Lakes. Mainline Grange baits proved a winning tactic for Cornwall lads Lee Taylor and his friend Rick Cullum when they visited our day ticket lakes for a 48 hour session; Lee managed to snaffle a new personal best in the shape of a smashing 30lbs 4ozs common, and also slipped the net under a mid double common and a 20lbs 2ozs mirror, whilst Rick caught commons of 20lbs4ozs and 29lbs 4ozs. A sunny spell saw Martin Ross take four doubles on zig rigs fished just below the surface and Taff Vanstone got on the Jungle to land fish to 15lbs 6ozs. We are seeing a lot of specimen eels falling to unintended baits with plenty of fish in excess of 3lbs; these are quality eels, so if you have ever wanted to find a big one, check out our day lakes!
As the weather continues to cool, our coarse pools will become a favourite spot for anglers seeking quality silver fish. Roach and bream are forming the majority of nets to 50lbs with maggot, corn, meat and pellet still offering consistent sport on standard quivertip or waggler tactics in open water, or pole and whip closer in.
