Catch report for week ending 21st October, 2012

It’s been a fairly quiet week at Emperor Lakes, but those anglers who have fished have caught some big fish! On the Syndicate water, Pallatrax angler ‘Geordie’ Ray Pulford used his sponsors Jungle bait to bag a whacker of 33lbs. Ray fished a 36 hour session and presented his corkball pop up on a balanced blow back rig using Pallatrax Terminal Contact rig bits to tempt the fish. Also doing well is venue regular Dave Reekie, the captor of several of our bigger residents this year, who continued his run of form with a 26lbs 8ozs specimen. Dan Williams bagged one of our ‘two tone’ linears at 28lbs, Mark Owen had the ‘Chub Common’ a lovely fish at 30lbs on Pallatrax Squabs, and Lee Cooper had another big mirror at 32lbs 12ozs. Baits bought in our onsite shop seem to be doing very well; Pallatrax and ACE baits are proving especially effective. There is probably little need to remind readers that our Syndicate water, with fish in excess of 40lbs, goes day ticket from April 2013, but bookings are coming in thick and fast, so if you fancy a crack at some of Devon’s hardest fighting fish, then ring our booking line on 07814060147.

If you follow our Facebook pages, you may be aware that initial investigations into pike fishing at Emperor Lakes have revealed some excellent results; owner David Lidstone has fished a number of test sessions which have put pike well over 20lbs on the bank, and lots of them! We are considering allowing experienced pike anglers access to the water sometime in December if subsequent results remain as promising, so please keep an eye on our social media and website for more details.

We have Cannington College onsite this week as part of their studies into Fishery Management; the staff and students are being filmed by a professional media company whilst assisting our staff with netting of popular Aimee’s Pool. The film is to be used to promote the courses available to students with an interest in relevant fishery subjects and is something we at Emperor Lakes will seek to engage with on a regular basis to further enhance their understanding of the trials and tribulations of running a fishery!

Our coarse pools have fished exceptionally well this week with a number of young anglers doing very well. We are delighted to see 14 year old Ben Sly catching carp to 3lbs as he has only just started his fishing career, and 16 year old Alex Timbers did well when he netted a smashing perch of 2lbs 8ozs which he caught on worm hook bait. Dartmouth anglers Bart Barthomley and Dave Pratley had a great visit when they managed 60lbs+ nets including tench to 6lbs and loads of quality roach using corn, worms and squabs.

Finally, we are running our monthly competition to win 48 hours midweek for TWO! All you have to do is like our Facebook page, find the competition post and add ‘Yes please’ to be in with a chance; what could be easier? Our best catch report of the month also wins a free 24 hour session, so make sure you send them in.
