The big news this week is that our complex catfish record has fallen with a mighty moggie of 70lbs 12ozs! Syndicate member Nigel Rogers slipped the net under what is considered to be only the SECOND biggest fish we have to land what we think may be a Devon record? Catch details to follow during the week, but this is breaking news!
Alan Gaylard landed a cat of 46lbs 8ozs, Roy Williams had a 50lbs+ fish and Tony Green had his first ever cat at 36lbs 10ozs. Also around Emperor Lakes, there has been a further two cats over 60lbs, adding to a total of six anglers who have visited this week and achieved new personal best catfish, so it’s been an excellent week for our moggie hunters. Best baits for cats appear to be the Pallatrax ‘Cat Chunx’ which have been doing very well….
Emperor Lakes received a lovely ‘thank you’ email this week from a group of Northampton anglers who spent four days with us; Martin Cadle netted himself fish including a big cat at 40lbs 2ozs, chum Paul Partlett snaffled one at 44lbs 4ozs and Matt Briggs had a series of carp to 33lbs+, so a good time was had by all despite the weather!
On the Syndicate water, Chris Manifold trapped a common carp of 33lbs, Martin Thacker had a 30lbs 8ozs fish and Mal Best chipped in with a sample at 27lbs 4ozs. There have been many other fish reported too, so again, it’s fishing well.
Around the other lakes, Head Bailiff Paul recommends maggots, corn or pellets to plunder bags of 80lbs+ with 40lbs not uncommon for just a couple of hours sport.
