News Release

Coarse fishing enthusiasts are being given a chance to own their own carp and roach fishery in the heart of Shropshire.

Offers in the region of £80,000 are being invited by agents Halls for Great Wytheford Fishery, which is located between Shrewsbury and Shawbury. The fishery comprises a 1.76 acre pool, surrounding land that extends to 5.86 acres and 450 metres of fishing rights along the River Roden.

Fed by a spring and land drains with an outlet into the river, the pool is around four years old, eight foot deep and has been developed in sympathy with its rural surroundings.

The pool edge has been planted with a mixture of native hardwoods including oak, ash, willow and silver birch, which are establishing well and the area is securely fenced with anti-otter fencing.

The fishery is located a short distance off the B5063 High Ercall to Shawbury road near Great Wytheford and is accessed along a private track. The land is not registered under the Single Payment Scheme.

Planning consent was granted in 2007 for the change of use from agricultural land to a fishery for up to 10 syndicate members as well as for the growing of fishing stock.
