Rupert Perry, 20, has qualified as the youngest ever Honda Marine master technician in the UK.
Rupert, 20, who is based at Rob Perry Marine in Axminster, has been working towards this accreditation for over three years at Honda’s purpose-built skills training facility, The Honda Institute, and is currently the only Marine master technician in the UK.
In recognition of this achievement, Rupert was presented with an engraved torque wrench and certificate by Honda (UK)’s Marine Technical Trainer, Robert Day, on Friday 2nd December. The presentation took place at Rob Perry Marine, where Rupert has worked since leaving Woodroffe School in Lyme Regis at 18.
Rupert’s assessments varied in complexity and were performed on Honda Marine outboard engines, which now range from 2.3 to 250 hp. The tasks were designed to test the technicians’ diagnostic capabilities and forced them to trouble-shoot beyond the scope of the comprehensive Honda workshop manual.
Proud dad and Dealer Principal, Rob Perry, adds: “Becoming a master technician is proof of Rupert’s technical abilities and confirms all of the hard work he has consistently put in over the years. We would also like to recognise all the help and support he’s had from the Honda Institute and its fantastic team of trainers. Rupert demonstrates what can be achieved when you put your heart and soul into something.”
Paul Taylor concludes: “This is a fantastic achievement by Rupert and we look forward to other Honda Marine technicians rising to the challenge to achieve this superb accolade.”
