Jimmy Buchan, the North Sea fisherman based in Peterhead who shot to fame as the star of the BBC hit series ‘Trawlermen’, has today (17 June, 2010) announced that he has signed a book deal with a leading UK publisher after returning from London where he and his literary agent met with his publisher.

Jimmy’s autobiography will be published by Little, Brown in the spring of 2011 and will be the story of Jimmy’s life and his countless treacherous adventures at sea.

Jimmy says: “Looking back on my career I have realised that the fishing industry has changed remarkably and also that I have some hair-raising and funny stories to tell. To be able to document all the anecdotes is a fantastic opportunity and I’m delighted to have agreed this deal.”

Jimmy’s literary agent, Margaret Hanbury of The Hanbury Agency, says she is delighted to have brokered the deal for Jimmy with Adam Strange of Little, Brown. She says: “I have been working closely with Jimmy for some months. He has some fascinating stories to tell and when he describes the storms he and his crew encountered you feel as if you’re on the boat with them. I’m sure this book will be a success.”
