The past week has been accompanied by warmer weather most days and heavy showers on some evenings.

Despite this the rod average on returns submitted remains high, this presently stands at 4.6 fish per angler visit. This high rod average is certainly due in no small measure to the present surface water temperature, this stands at an ideal 17.5 degrees centigrade.

Hot spots for anglers fishing Fly from the boat are presently along Hafod Lom, top of the north end of the Reservoir around the Island and, as usual Tower Bay. Anglers fishing Fly from the bank are seeing some of the most productive areas producing fish in numbers from Brenig Arm, Nantglyn Bank, Hafod Lom Woods and between the Visitors Centre and Dam Wall. The most productive methods have included floating lines with Buzzers, Nymphs and Heather Flies, a clear indication that the fish are high in the water.

The best fish recorded during the past week was a 5lbs 7ozs Rainbow Trout taken on a green fritz  by Mr Turner of Frodsham in Cheshire.
