June 14th – 15th, 2013

Longleat is to host its inaugural Fishing and Country Show on June 14th and 15th, 2013.

The Wiltshire Estate has been working for some time with key elements of the UK Tackle Trade after identifying what they see as a major gap in the existing UK show calendar.

The new show is being developed with the internationally-respected fisherman Chris Ogborne.

“Longleat in Wiltshire is perfectly positioned to host such a show. The Estate is currently involved in many high quality events and it has a total infrastructure in place,” he said.

Longleat House and fishing lake“There is a clear demand for a premium fishing orientated show in the South of England which can appeal to all anglers and Longleat has the perfect location to host this type of event.

“It has a professional in-house management and marketing team, together with back up from top business and sporting consultants.

“Most important of all it has its own established fishery, in a series of three well stocked lakes that will form the focal base for the show.

“The sport of fishing has long needed an event of this stature. My brief is very simple:  to help Longleat make this the finest show of its kind anywhere in the world and that is what we intend to achieve,” he added.

The focus of the new show will be firmly on ‘Go fishing’ with top quality exhibitors from all branches of the sport – game, coarse and carp.

There will be demonstrations throughout with a host of acknowledged experts on hand to give advice at every level. In particular, youngsters and newcomers will be encouraged to ‘have a go’ with free advice on tackle and a free casting/fishing clinic.

An Advice Centre will be a major feature, with hands-on help for beginners and experts alike.

“There is a very clear demand for a premium, fishing-oriented show in the south of England that will appeal to all anglers, of all ages and in every branch of the sport,” said Chris.

“Longleat is famous for being a family venue and the fishing show will be no exception. Attractions on the day will include a fabulous Food Village where you can sample the delights of artisan food and drink producers from all over the UK.

“There will also be a 4X4 driving area, many catering franchises and a superb picnic area by the lakes. The resident attractions at Longleat such as the Safari Park, Adventure Park, birds of prey show plus Longleat House and Gardens will also be available,” he added.
