With Summer coming and the weather turning warmer, more and more people will be enjoying the delights of outdoor activities and readers will be thinking of going fishing.
The Energy Networks Association (ENA) wants to help people to do so safely. This is why ENA has just published leaflets to help prevent anglers from being injured by overhead electrical cables.
Angling is a quite tranquil sport but the use of very long fishing rods can pose a risk when anglers lift them above their head to either cast or to carry them and accidentally touch an overhead power line!
ENA has produced three leaflets, one of which is aimed at anglers and advises people to be safe, to look out and look up and keep away from overhead electricity lines. There are also leaflets aimed at fishery managers and planning authorities, to ensure that the fisheries take precautions to minimise the risk of potential accidents.
