Weekly Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area

Michael Smith fished an overnight session at Beckerings Reservoir near Flitwick landing 1 bream and 5 carp of 19lb 14oz, 19lb 4oz, 16lb 10oz, 12lb 2oz, and 10lbs. The successful bait was A2D Baits Sweet Plum Pop-ups with a Spicy Crab and Mussel filled PVA stick.

At North House Lake on the Wyboston Complex Innovate Baits Steve Slater caught a low 20lb carp before the lake froze over.

On the same complex Mark Simmonds fished for pike and zander on the South Lagoon landing a nice 15lb pike.

You may remember in last weeks report that Beacon AC had an awful canal match on section 4b at Chelmscote where only 1 fish for 1oz was caught. On the same day Luton AC fished a couple of miles away on section 6b near the Globe PH and the weights were nothing short of remarkable considering there had been a hard overnight frost and some areas of the canal were frozen over:

1st D Pearce 18lb 14oz (mainly skimmers)

2nd T Bird 15lb 14oz (mainly skimmers)

3rd D Moss 10lb 8oz (mainly skimmers) – also Club Knockout Shield winner, congratulations

4th M Quick (junior) 5lb 9oz (skimmers)

Successful baits were big maggots, worm and some to bread punch.

Roman Urn AC fished section 7 at the Globe PH and the winning weight was over 26lb which included a 15lb 12oz carp, plus perch of 2lb 10oz, 2lb and 1.5lb.

This weekends work parties were at Barretts Mere however the mud seriously hampered progress and further work will be required to get this water open on 1st June 2010.

Woodlands Lake will be closed on Saturday 27th February 2010  due to a work party taking place.

On Saturday 6th March its the annual Grand Union Canal litter pick with everyone meeting in the Tesco car park in Leighton Buzzard at 9am. Although volunteers save £10 on the total cost of their 2010/11 membership their efforts also help to keep the annual membership costs down for everyone as without their hard work it would be necessary to employ outside contractors with undoubtedly huge cost implications to the price of the annual membership. Hopefully everyone who volunteered last year will do the same again plus others who want to improve the waters that the club controls.

Check the web site home page for work party details and registration form or contact Dave Edwards at the club office on 01582-728114 or Joanne Edwards on 01582-603466 or 07903048280. Remember you will not need to pay the £10 work party levy (adults and intermediaries) when renewing your membership for next season if you attend just one of the work parties.
