Weekly report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area sponsored by Starmer Baits

The new river season started this week and hopefully we will have some more reports this year as the river reports last season were few at best, so if you have a decent day or nice fish please let us know.

Luton AC offers fantastic fishing for most species with Carp to 37lb+, Tench 8lb+, Bream 10lb+, Chub 7lb+, Zander 16lb+, Pike near 30lb, Perch 3lb+ and Roach and Rudd over 2lb. All of the clubs stillwaters including 12 miles of the Grand Union Canal are open all year round and alot offer secure parking close to the venue. Unlike some clubs Luton AC do not charge a premium for night fishing or fishing between March and June. Money from subscriptions is continually being ploughed back into improving the fisheries for the benefit of its members through work parties throughout the year.

As reported last week there is once again a bogus bailiff trying to con money out of unsuspecting anglers around Leighton Buzzard. All Luton AC bailiffs carry photo ID cards and are happy to show you their ID if requested. When paying you will be given a printed Luton AC day ticket and our bailiffs will never take your money with promises of someone else coming along later with the ticket. If you are approached by this individual please phone the police with a description.

Due to the low water levels at Beckerings Reservoir the use of carp sacks and keepnets has been banned in the interests of fish welfare. Accordingly all of the remaining scheduled matches at Beckerings in 2011 have been cancelled.

New member Dave Gibbs braved the poor weather last Sunday and visited North House Lake to find he had most of the lake to himself. Daves efforts were rewarded with a pb common of 27lb 4oz fishing a solid pva bag and peach boilie close to snags.

BreamSteve Cook was at North House the following day catching a 9lb 2oz bream. Mark Ridgeway landed The Parrot common at 27lb 6oz the largest of a 5 fish hit, the others being commons of 26lb, 23lb and 22lb 6oz plus a mirror of 24lb 8oz and Ivan Sayer tempted a 22lb 3oz common. As reported last week father and son duo Paul and Braidan Tidmarsh had a 20lb 4oz mirror and 8lb+ bream and they have sent me the pictures this week along with a picture of a spectacular sunset. Kevin Day also sent in a great sunset picture from the same venue.

On the adjacent River Great Ouse Andy Wilkinson kicked off the start of the new river season with a 9lb bream.

Steve Morey has sent in a picture of a nice 4lb 3oz Woodlands tench along with a picture of one of the colourful foxgloves for entry into this month’s photo competition.

The winner of our June photo competition which closes on 30st June 2011 will receive 10kg of the new Starmer Baits Coconut Fish boilies. It is open to anyone (members and non members) submitting a digital photo taken on any Luton AC controlled water and it can be of absolutely anything eg a sunset on the canal, a nice fish, wildlife etc. The photos submitted cannot be over a month old, the judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the result. So get snapping and forward your pictures to our usual email address catchreports@lutonac.org or send from your mobile to 07704462635.

Please phone/text your catch reports from Luton AC waters to 07704462635 or email catchreports@lutonac.org and if you have pictures taken on your phone send picture messages to 07704462635. Remember to always use an unhooking mat when targetting specimen fish, keeping the fish as low to the ground as possible when taking photos.
