Weekly Report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area

Warren Guess caught a 2lb 1oz perch from the canal on worm and we have the picture of Dave Murdoch Snrs 3lb 1oz perch from the canal as reported last week.

Elsewhere one of the Beacon committee members reports large roach to 1.5lb, bream to near 4lb and perch over 1lb from section 3b at Chelmscote. Several day ticket anglers have been having success with the carp with 3 to 16lb from the bridge end of the Stoke Hammond Layby and a 12lb common from Chelmscote.

Its been a quieter week at Woodlands although tench to 4lb 6oz along with bream and roach plus a few small carp have been reported.

The bailiff at Woodlands has asked me to remind members that the road gate must be kept locked at all times and the car park gate must be locked by the last one to leave the venue.

Over at the Wyboston Complex North House Lake Kevin Jefferies has had several carp to 26lb, Mark Farrell an upper double and Shane Welch a couple to upper doubles with all of the fish being caught on Innovate S2t.

Ashley Phenan landed the big North House common at 34lb 3oz along with mirrors of 20lb 1oz, 20lb 9oz and a 20lb common. Matt Evans caught a 9lb 2oz bream, B. West a 27lb 8oz mirror and David Starling commons of 18lb and 11lb.

On the adjacent South Lagoon Andy Mott had a 12lb 12oz pike, Robert Langdon included an 8lb 4oz common in his bag of skimmers caught on the feeder, Ian Betson managed tench of 6lb 8oz and 4lb 8oz, Les Hillyard a 21lb common from peg 1, Mick Brooke a 17lb common and 5lb 2oz tench from peg 28 with day anglers having success with bream of 8lb 8oz and 7lb. The bailiff tells me that several good bags of roach to 7lb+ have been caught from ‘cyanide straight’ on the South Lagoon.

Beckerings has been fairly slow with James Muncaster having 4 to 20lb 12oz , Mick Stringer had a 15lber off the top and Dave Gosman caught some roach on the tip.

Arrangements for the carp match at Beckerings Reservoir are well under way and details will be published in the forthcoming newsletter. So far prizes have been provided by Jag Products, Nash, CC Moore & Fishing Wizard worth in total £380.

Luton AC has invested over £20,000 in stocking and fisheries improvement work during 2009. This investment is ongoing and is reflected by the number of work parties taking place throughout March, April & May. Membership prices will remain unchanged for the coming season with all waters except the river sections remaining open for the full 12 months. It is hoped that the new Barretts Mere on the Tingrith Complex will be open for fishing on 1st June.

This weekends workparty was at the Great Ouse Biddenham where repairs were carried out to the first bridge.

The next work party is on Saturday 8th May & Sunday 9th May at the Great Ouse Lavendon where a new off road car park area is being created so if you wish to lend a hand check the web site home page for work party details and registration form or contact Dave Edwards at the club office on 01582-728114 or Joanne Edwards on 01582-603466 or 07903048280. Remember you will not need to pay the £10 work party levy (adults and intermediates) when renewing your membership for next season if you attend just one of the work parties.
