Weekly fishing report for the Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire & St Neots Cambridgeshire Area sponsored by Starmer Baits

At North House Lake Craig Stevenson managed a 22lb 6oz common and 19lb 6oz mirror, Mark Fonseca a 21lb 8oz common, Kevin Day a 20lb 2oz mirror plus 10lb bream, Roger Perkess a 25lb 8oz mirror and Aaron Higginson commons of 18lb and 9lb+.

On the adjacent South Lagoon its bream and roach a plenty with bream ranging between 6lb & 7lb.

The river Great Ouse at Black Cat is very clear with considerable weed growth. Despite this a number of members have been fishing the river but with limited success. A small number of bream have put in an appearance, with the largest reported being 9lbs (on opening day), otherwise they have been averaging just over 6lbs. An eel of 1lb 8oz has also been reported, otherwise there are plenty of small fish about.

On the canal the Members only section at Slapton has been producing well again to waggler fished maggots. Plenty of roach, skimmers and hybrids from 4oz to 1lb 8oz being caught with a little and often baiting approach. Steven Lucas enjoyed an evening carp session on the southern end of the canal. Within the first hour he hooked and landed two mirror carp of around 14lb using legered boilies. Section 13 has produced some decent bags of roach and skimmers this week , with tip fished corn and waggler fished corn doing the damage there.

Beacon AC fished the South Lagoon on Sunday 26th June
1st Austin Maddock 39lb 4oz – bream to 7lb
2nd Jeff Duiguid 5lb 6oz
3rd Peter Smith 5lb 2oz

TadpolesAlec Sharp sent me a couple of pictures for the photo competition one being tadpoles at Woodland and the other a heron on the canal at the Stoke Hammond layby.

Once again anglers had to be removed when found fishing under the power lines at Horton. This seems to be a regular occurance as people risk electrocution thinking that they will get away with fishing for free. Unfortunately this could cost them their lives so to those individuals concerned please stop and think!
