Luton AC Winter Memberships are available from 1st November with prices as follows ADULTS – £37.50, OAP/DISABLED/INTERMEDIATE – £25, JUNIOR – £10, JOINT – £50, FAMILY OPTION 1 – £45, FAMILY OPTION 2 – £55. Luton AC can now offer a 3rd rod winter ticket priced at just £10, for members only ( Day ticket anglers can buy an extra day ticket to fish with a third rod).This covers all waters except Home Farm/Tingrith and will be trialled until the AGM in March 2012. Please note – if there are any incidents of anglers casting into another persons swim, then their ticket will be cancelled and the trial may be halted. This ticket is only available by phone or by post via the Membership Secretary – 01582 603466 ( Leave a message). A second rod licence is also required to fish with a third rod.
 
VISITORS TO THE GRAND UNION CANAL SHOULD NOTE THAT THERE IS A DIRT HALF CHALLENGE RUNNING RACE TAKING PLACE ON SATURDAY 19th NOVEMBER 2011 BETWEEN TOWN SOUTH (TIDDENFOOT) AND THE THREE LOCKS. THERE IS EXPECTED TO BE 500 RUNNERS TAKING PART BETWEEN 9am & 12PM AND ANGLERS ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED TO AVOID THE AREA ON THAT DAY.

Rylee Scott 26lb 8oz mirrorNew member John Webb visited North House Lake with his grandson Rylee Scott. Fishing to a gravel bar at 10 yards 13 year old Rylee caught a 26lb 8oz mirror on a boilie tipped with pop up fake white corn over a bed of chops and pellets. On the same venue Simon Jackson landed a 13lb 8oz common.

On the adjacent South Lagoon Mike Woodward tempted commons of 16lb 13oz and 14lb 10oz and nearby Laurie Taylor banked a 24lb 5oz common. John Stafferton had a 9lb 4oz bream and there have been numerous small pike caught up to 11lb.
 
At Beckerings Reservoir, Mick Stringer put in a couple of sessions with three carp to 21lb on the first and then two carp to 21lb+ on his second visit. Also at Beckerings Mark Ridgeway had four carp to 16lb. Plenty of roach and perch are to be had on the float and tip with red maggot scoring well.
 
A double figure carp, roach over a pound, perch to nearly 2lb and a 3lb 6oz chub were all caught when Warwick AC fished their latest match on the Grand Union Canal at Stoke Hammond with the 12 competitors putting 120lb on the scales. Incredibly all bar one of the pegs died at midday when the sun came out but 3rd placed man John Wright put 18lb on the scales in the last 3 hours!
 
1st Micky Parini 21lb 5oz skimmers and roach to 1lb 2oz plus a 10lb 11oz carp fishing pellet on long pole
2nd Dennis Meadhurst 19lb 3oz skimmers, bream and roach to punch bread plus 3 perch of 12oz on maggot pole at 5m
3rd John Wright 18lb 9oz bream, perch and roach plus a 3lb 6oz chub to maggot at 13m, best perch of the day 1lb 13oz.
 
The winner of our October photo competition which closes on 31st October 2011 will receive 10kg of Starmer Baits Coconut Fish boilies. It is open to anyone (members and non members) submitting a digital photo taken on any Luton AC controlled water and it can be of absolutely anything eg. a sunset on the canal, a nice fish, wildlife etc. The photos submitted cannot be over a month old, the judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the result. Angling’s representative body, the Angling Trust, has launched a web site for anglers to record sightings of cormorants, goosanders and mergansers throughout the UK.
