The first work party of the year will be held at Beckerings on Sunday 12th February, starting at 9 am. We will be trimming the longest willow branches as per our lease agreement and also filling potholes in the track. As in previous years, attending will mean you do not have to pay a work party levy if in an eligible membership class. New for this year is the re-introduction of the “free books for 3 work parties scheme”. Any member completing three work parties between now and May 31st will be entitled to a free book.

Our oldest Life member Charlie Olney has sadly passed away. He was 105 years old and continued to fish past his 100th birthday. Our condolences go to his family.

The water level at Beckerings Reservoir is back to normal now and the Board are pleased to announce that the keepnet ban there has been lifted.

Simon Heath fished the South Lagoon and during an 8 hour spell landed pike of 16lb 4oz, 10lb 12oz and 6lb+ along with zander of 9lb, 8lb 6oz and 7lb 4oz. A combination of large and small roach proved successful for Simon. Also on the South Lagoon John Hansell managed an 11lb 11oz pike while nearby on the River Great Ouse Andy Wilkinson tempted a 5lb 6oz chub and Terry Willison also had a chub of 5lb 4oz with both fish falling to sardine tails!

There have been no reports from the canal lately but those that I saw fishing at the weekend were all catching skimmers, roach, perch and gudgeon with David Summerfield having a small carp and bream.

Mark Ridgeway caught an 18lb common from Beckerings Reservoir and an angler fishing overnight caught three to 19lb.

Michael Ward fished the Mere on Sunday and had a good haul of roach rudd and skimmers all coming to red maggot.

Reports of people using keepnets on the Mere have filtered through to the bailiff, and we’d like to remind members that keepnets are not allowed at either of the Tingrith venues.

Woodlands Lake has thrown up some nice tench, and the carp continue to feed despite the cold weather.
