This year’s AGM will be held on 22nd March 2012 at the Airport Social Club, Proctor Way (off Percival Way) Luton Airport LU2 9PE starting at 8pm. Members wishing to keep in touch with Club affairs should make every effort to attend. Remember to bring your membership book with you.

Membership books for next season will not be sent out until the first or second week in April once they have been printed. Payments can still be made before that time after the prices are ratified at the AGM on 22nd March.

A near record number turned out for the Tingrith Work Party. There were 27 from Luton AC and 2 from Vauxhall AC who now control the fishing at Tingrith. The place was tidied up and pot holes filled along the track before the weather closed in.

As in previous years, attending a work party will mean you do not have to pay a work party levy if in an eligible membership class.
 
Short notice but last weeks fish transfer from the unfishable (due to OHPL) section 12 of the Grand Union Canal was postponed until Friday 23rd March 2012 by BW’s fishery contractors. Contact Brett Herdman on 07940301225 for details (times and where to meet) if you fancy lending a hand.

At North House Lake Ian Fisher managed a 23lb 8oz common, Tony Bennett a 21lb 8oz mirror, Chris Chapman an 18lb 2oz common and Ian Murray-Brooks a 16lb common.

On the adjacent South Lagoon Craig Gibson had an 8lb pike while Gary Scott landed a specimen 20lb pike along with a jack of 7lb using a legered deadbait, 20lb wire trace and size 8 barbless trebles. Mark Bowater fished the Lagoon tempting a 7lb tench and four bream to 5lb, Steven McIver banked bream of 9lb 12oz and 9lb 2oz with Eric Jones getting in on the action with a 15lb 14oz common on his own Red Eric Baits.

PikeMark Ridgeway fished Beckerings Reservoir and caught carp of 20lb, 17lb and 15lb. Colin Phillips was at the same venue landing a 16lb 8oz common and three bream around 7lb. Also at Beckerings was Tomasz Fiutowski who put out a fish fillet in the hope of catching one of the reservoirs eels but when his alarm sounded at 7pm it was a 5lb pike that had taken his bait instead of an eel.

The winner of our March 2012 photo competition which closes on 31st March 2012 will receive a terrific Starmer Baits bait package. It is open to anyone (members and non members) submitting a digital photo taken on any Luton AC controlled water and it can be of absolutely anything eg a sunset on the canal, a nice fish, wildlife etc. The photos submitted cannot be over a month old, the judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the result. Time is running out if you want to enter a photo competition purely for the predator angler sponsored by King of the Pond www.kingofthepond.com It is open to anyone submitting a digital photo of a pike, zander, chub, perch, eel or catfish caught from a Luton AC controlled water. The photos must have been taken on or after 1st June 2011 and the closing date for entries is 31st March 2012.
