Membership books for next season will not be sent out until the first or second week in April once they have been printed. Payments can still be made before that time after the prices are ratified at the AGM on 22nd March. Remember that you can save £5 on your renewal by paying cash or cheque before 1st may 2012.

As in previous years, attending a work party will mean you do not have to pay a work party levy if in an eligible membership class. It is important that all those that plan attending the last 2 work parties bring with them as many tools as possible to use on the day eg spades, shovels, hammers, rakes etc.

This week saw British Waterways contractors electrofishing the Overhead Power Lines Sections at Horton. Very many carp and bream were moved to sections of the canal where members can now enjoy fishing for them. Luton AC would like to thank the contractor MEM for their help and expertise on the day.
 
A few days prior to the end of the river season Guy Beechey visited the River Ivel at Twin Bridges for a very short 1 hour session and came up trumps with two chub of 6lb 12oz and 4lb caught on bread.

Common CarpOn North House Lake Leroy Hicks had a 21lb 4oz mirror, Tommy Bennett a 25lb common, Benjamin West  a 21lb mirror, John West a 16lb common, Elliott Archer a 28lb 8oz common, Dave Jackson a 25lb 12oz common, S Coleman a 16lb common, Simon Jackson a 22lb mirror, Ian Fisher commons of 22lb and 17lb with Mark Read tempting a 24lb 2oz mirror.
 
Fishing the South Lagoon Martin Redman managed an 11lb 2oz pike on a drifted roach deadbait. Fishing alongside Martin was Phil Woods who had a 16lb 2oz pike on a popped up roach. Also on the Lagoon Jack Sharp had pike of 8lb and 4lb, Craig Gibson a 6lb pike, Simon King a 10lb 5oz pike and 8lb 15oz zander. There are also many bream being caught to 10lb from the lagoon.
 
Damian Edwards fished Beckerings Reservoir where sport has been slow lately but Damian did well landing five fish in his overnight session. Using Creative Baits Analysis BI Squid & Spiced Cranberry which he had won in a magazine photo competition he managed a 23lb mirror known as Moon Scale and commons of  21lb 2oz, 18lb 10oz, 14lb 8oz and 13lb 2oz. Also at Beckerings Ollie Caress managed a 17lb 6oz common on a Bevos Bait boilie.
 
The winner of our March 2012 photo competition which closes on 31st March 2012 will receive a terrific Starmer Baits bait package. It is open to anyone (members and non members) submitting a digital photo taken on any Luton AC controlled water and it can be of absolutely anything eg a sunset on the canal, a nice fish, wildlife etc. The photos submitted cannot be over a month old, the judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the result. There are just a few days remaining if you want to enter a photo competition purely for the predator angler sponsored by King of the Pond www.kingofthepond.com It is open to anyone submitting a digital photo of a pike, zander, chub, perch, eel or catfish caught from a Luton AC controlled water. The photos must have been taken on or after 1st June 2011 and the closing date for entries is 31st March 2012. The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the result.

Angling’s representative body, the Angling Trust, has launched a web site for anglers to record sightings of cormorants, goosanders and mergansers throughout the UK.
