Hi,

Thanks for being on the Anglers Net mailing list. As I know many are on here just for the free competitions, I’ll let you know now that four have been updated this week and you can find details of them all at
https://www.anglersnet.co.uk/comps.htm – Good Luck!

For the few of you still reading, I’ll try to be brief. I’ve done my usual ‘trick’. I’ve been wanting to sort this mailout out for days, and it’s now 12:45 at night, I’ve been working all day and my brain is melting fast….. <cue violins>

Festive Shopping – Okay, I hate to bang on, but everybody knows that busy websites cost money and have to recuperate that money somehow. The good thing is, YOU could help without actually giving us a penny. For example, take a look at out Amazon Associate Store – http://astore.amazon.co.uk/anglernet – You may be surprised to see that you can order everything from books to breadmakers there, and it’s all supplied by the well-oiled delivering machine that is Amazon.co.uk. So, buying your loved one that present (that you were going to get them, anyway!) could well help support your ‘local’ fishing website!

Fed up with getting naff ‘fishing’ presents that have come from department stores who don’t actually sell real fishing tackle? Well, tell your relatives and friends to take a look here:
http://www.click-for-bargains.co.uk/xmasgifts/ – Tackle Bargains have created a great ‘gift ideas’ page for them to choose from. And, if you don’t see what you like there, try their homepage at http://www.tacklebargain.com/ – at this time of year, items such as the half-price Total Fishing Gear fleeces are going down a storm!
(see http://www.click-for-bargains.co.uk/warmth/ )

I’ll mention some other ideas below, but first to the main Anglers’ Net site….

News – regulars to our homepage will know that the news section is updated very frequently. You can jump straight to the news at:
https://www.anglersnet.co.uk/News/

There have been some interesting articles recently. Some are great for angling, such as new product releases, conservation work, the chance to win a boat when you join the Pike Anglers Club, etc., but some are not such good news…..only this evening, I received a news release from CEFAS regarding a seized illegal cargo of large carp up to 43lb at Dover. All 64 of these illegal fish had to be killed. That particular story is at:
https://www.anglersnet.co.uk/News/illegal_carp_imports.html

Reviews & Articles – more have been added recently, although not in the same volume as the news section. However, ‘Longest Article Of The Year’ award must go to Julian Grattidge for his latest Carp Journals piece at:
https://www.anglersnet.co.uk/Carp-Fishing-Articles/2006_Carp_Journals_Part_Two.html !!

I’ll leave you to browse the site yourself and find all the other bits and pieces we’ve done. If you can’t find all the answers to your angling question on the main site, please remember that the forums have nearly 700,000 posts on them!
https://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/

North East Sea Angling – a quick plug for this site, where the addition of two fish filleting videos recently have proven very popular:
http://www.nesa.co.uk/

As mentioned above, a couple more suggestions of places to buy stuff. Places that have helped me over the years…..

http://www.fishing-direct.com/ – a carp fishing specialist and probably one of the nicest tackle shop owners out there.

http://www.spex-4-less.com/ – not only are these, I’m told, probably the cheapest and most efficient prescription glasses supplier around, but they also have a great affiliate scheme. If you run a website, check out the link at the bottom of their homepage. They come HIGHLY recommended!

And, finally, for those of you who need a break, you won’t find a better selection of places than here – http://www.chooseacottage.co.uk/partners/agn/index.asp

Once again, sorry for all the plugs this time around. If you look at the site, you’ll see that we have been putting the work in, too. Honest….

Tight lines,

Elton Murphy
