…and lighten up a dull day and Monk Lakes

Angling Trust News Release

Former Fish-O Mania champion Nathan Watson sealed his third appearance in the final when the Louth based angler recorded 131lbs 14ozs of fish – a margin of just 1lb 6oz. Stationed at the favoured peg 91 on lake 3, he fished a pellet feeder for the 1st hour, and a pole down the edge for the remainder of the match. Nathan used pellet, luncheon meat and corn as hook baits to take a mainly carp net, with the biggest scaling 5lbs.

Commenting on his win Nathan said “I am delighted to be competing in the final again – especially winning in such difficult conditions and after such a close run match”

Dull overcast breezy conditions prevailed throughout the day for the 130 anglers in this latest qualifying match where there were some good weights recorded, but many anglers struggled all day.

Third placed St Neots goldsmith Paul Goldstraw weighed in 109lbs 8ozs from peg 46 on lake 2 where he fed 12 pints of red & white maggots to take a mainly barbel net.

In fourth was Romford taxi driver Graham Dack who also had a mainly barbel net of 107lbs 6ozs from peg 47.

And in fifth position was East Grinstead electrician Paul Kell who fished meat to the corner from his end peg 135, to record exactly 100lbs of mirror carp to 4lbs.
