Competition professional Scott Nellins has qualified for reserve place in the English Rivers National Team.

Held on the River Tees, the English Rivers National was held over two days for the first time.

With 32 anglers taking part in the competition, each of who had gone through qualifing rounds on various English rivers throughout 2008  to Qualify for the Final, Hardy & Greys Commercial Marketing Assistant, Scott managed to beat off strong competition and qualify for reserve place.

“This is my first Senior National English Rivers competition and to qualify with the best at the first attempt is very satisfying at my young age.”

Judged by strict guidlines, all fish caught throughout the competition are released and measured upon capture.
The total length of the fish caught makes up the final score and the more fish caught per angler the less points you obtain, meaning the angler with the least points finishes in the higest position.

Using a 10’ #3  Greys Streamflex rod and catching on a dry fly using the French Nymphing method, Scott Nellins ended his first session with 5th place  but made up for that with a 2nd, 1st and 2nd finishing in reserve place.

The Home National English Rivers Final will be held in Wales in June 2009 on the River Taff.  Twenty anglers plus four reserves from the four home nations will take part in the competition with the final winner being announced after the competition.
