Catch Reports
Goose Green

Saturday 6th October saw an unusual amount of people fishing at Goose Green , usually the place is deserted because of the work parties.

Colin Steer, and his son Josh were to be found on lake 3, both anglers were fishing with maggot on the method feeder. Josh beat his Dad’s best of the day, an 8lb  Mirror Carp, with a personal best of 11lb 8oz.  Later in the day Colin and Josh elected to move lakes due to some urgently needed maintenance by a Tree Surgeon on a dead tree in the immediate vicinity of where the duo were fishing (Thanks again Colin/Josh for your patience and understanding while the work was carried out, it is appreciated)because of the nature of the work, Colin and Josh moved to  New Pond, again using maggot,  they caught steadily looking for the elusive Crucian which came with the last cast of the day.   Congratulations on your new PB Josh. Dudley Chandler fished a short afternoon session on Lake 2, Dudley fishing the pole with maggot/pellet caught well for the two hours he was there, with a number of skimmers and small Carp coming to his waiting hand.

Sunday 7th October saw very few people at Goose compared to the previous day, Mark Emery fished Peg 41 on Lake 4, Mark using the short pole with red maggot on the hook, caught Perch, Rudd, Roach, Skimmers, Gudgeon & 3 Bream to 3-8-0, on the opposite side of the lake was Ray Clark, Ray also using the pole with maggot on the hook caught a a similar net of fish to Mark, the only difference being Ray did not include any Bream in his catch.

Lake 2 was the busiest lake on Sunday without a doubt, Graham Knight was to be found on Peg 18, Graham fishing the pole with maggot/pellet on the hook over pellet, caught a net of 16-0-0 which included numerous examples of the lakes small carp, plus a shedful of pristine skimmers and an absolutely scale perfect baby Crucian, on Grahams right was Jamie Douglas of Teach In umbrella capture fame (see our website for a video), Jamie fishing the pole with pellet and maggot duplicated the species caught by Graham, but for a lower total weight of 10-0-0.

Shaun “Spawny” Groves was to be found on Peg 16, Shaun alternating between the feeder and pole, caught Carp, Skimmers and silvers, Chris Groves fished Peg 15 with the short pole, Chris caught skimmers, small carp and silvers, and during quieter moments contented herself with throwing small lumps of paste at son Shaun on the adjacent peg.

Fishery News

Deep Lake remains closed and will remain off limits until April the 1st 2008, please also be aware if you walk around the lake, that some areas are very boggy at the moment, please do not venture too close to the edge for your own safety.

Following a successful work party on the  6 October,  we have completed the planting of the lake, all bar the Island, and have made a start on laying the paths, we will need some help in a few weeks time to help lay the woodchip.

We have received some reports from a number of members about the behaviour of a few “members” at Moor Farm, the reports we have received regarding describe the offenders as using foul language, shouting, running around and generally making themselves a complete nuisance, may we remind you that we will not tolerate foul language at any of our fisheries and shouting and running around the fishery, or indeed any fishery is completely unacceptable, our bailiff team have been made aware of the offenders descriptions and the bailiffs will be monitoring the situation closely, those found to be in breech of club/fishery rules will be offered a gentle reminder – you have been warned.
