Catch Reports

Goose Green
Pulborough Pixie, Paul Cripps, fished an over night session on Heron Lake on the night of 4th May, Paul fishing from peg 19 along side friends Richard & Kenny, caught an amazing number of fish on his new “secret” bait, the ingredient of which are known to only himself, Paul had 15 Carp in one night ranging from small 4-0-0 fish to low doubles, Richard & Kenny did not fare as well with only three fish between them, needless to say Paul is not overly popular with his friends at the moment

Goose Green proved to be a very popular venue on Sunday 4th May, a number of anglers were to found fishing all of the lakes, Heron Lake saw Barry & Karen Ginnaw, Barry fishing peg six with Karen on Peg 7 saw a reversal of the norm with Karen being beaten by hubby Barry (makes a change eh Barry?), Karen fishing the short pole with maggot hook baits, saw a steady flow of small Skimmers, Roach & Rudd, Barry on the other hand was forging ahead, with Carp to 5-0-0, Bream & Skimmers, although Barry could not compete with Mick Both, Mick fishing with the pole & pellet, caught ten Carp into double figures, Bream, Rudd & Skimmers for a complete red letter day, also on on Heron was Dudley Chandler, who unfortunately could not match Mick, and only managed to land one Carp, despite hooking three.

Heron lake also saw Mark Emery, Mark perched on peg 16, fished the short pole with maggot and caught Skimmers, Perch & Rudd.

Canada Lake, saw Jamie Douglas, (who we hasten to add recently placed in the frame at Whiteacres, nice one Jamie), Jamie alternated between the pole & pellet waggler and caught Bream, Carp & Skimmers, newshound Tom Brunning was also on Canada and was witnessed to catch good sized Carp on the waggler.

Graham Knight was also to be found on Canada lake, Graham electing to wring the changes and fished a small maggot feeder and proved the method to be a success with a fine capture of Carp & Bream.

Dave Laker fished new Pond, and although details are at the moment sketchy, we believe he caught Crucians, Roach & Perch on the pole.

Moor Farm
Paul Mitchell fished the bottom lake at Moor Farm on the 3rd May, Paul fishing the feeder and alternating corn & pellet on the hook caught, five Common Carp ranging in weight from 3-0-0 to 7-0-0, a Mirror carp of  17-0-0 and a Tench of 2-0-0.
Also at Moor Farm on the 3rd were Colin, Josh & Will Steer along with family friend Bradley, Colin & Will opted to fish the middle lake, whilst Josh fished the bottom lake with his friend Bradley. Colin and Will caught carp to 7-0-0, and when it went quiet switched to catching silvers. It was a peaceful, sunny afternoon, until Bradley reported that Josh was into something a little bigger, and it was, with a  Mirror Carp weighing in at 18LB and smashing Josh’s PB, a picture of Josh & his PB is  attached, Bradley also got into the doubles with a common Carp around 10-0-0.

Steve & Simon Gray fished the Top Lake at Moor Farm on Saturday 26th April, fishing towards the island the brothers caught six Tench each and a few Crucians, the largest Tench swung the needle on Steve’s scales round to 2-8-0.
Having enjoyed their fishing on Saturday, the brothers returned to the Top Lake on Sunday 27th April, this time enjoying greater success, Simon fished towards the island and caught six Tench & twelve Crucians, the biggest Tench again being in the region of 2-8-0, Steve elected to fish the deeper water and caught twelve Tench to 2-12-0 and a solitary Crucian, Steve also reports that one of the Tench was same fish he had caught the previous day and was easily recognisable as it only had one eye.

Fishery News – Goose Green
There has been some confusion in identifying the new ponds created between the main road and the Tench pond at Goose Green, It has therefore been decided by the committee to rename them as follows

Lake 2 / Bottom Lake, will now be called Heron Lake
Lake 3 / Middle Lake, will now be called Canada Lake
Lake 4 / Top Lake, will now be called Kingfisher Lake
These are all names reflecting birds associated with water that have been seen at Goose Green, the names of the other three lakes at the fishery Tench, New & Deep Lake remain unchanged. To help establish these names and to confirm the existing names of the other three lakes (Tench, New and Deep), purpose made name boards will be erected by the side of each lake showing it’s name
